Opening of Songpa's Largest Integrated Songpa Kiwoom Center Branch No. 20 on January 6
Open Weekday Nights and Saturdays... After-School Play, Rest, and Cultural, Sports, and Arts Programs Available
Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that it will open the 20th branch of the Songpa Kiwoom Center within the Hillstate e-Pyeonhansesang Munjeong Apartment complex on January 6.
The Kiwoom Center is a project started by Seoul City in 2019 to provide after-school care services for elementary school students, and Songpa-gu currently operates a total of 19 centers.
The newly opened 20th branch (Jangji-dong 2nd branch) Songpa Kiwoom Center is located on the 3rd and 4th floors of the child welfare facility within the Hillstate e-Pyeonhansesang Munjeong Apartment complex. It has an exclusive area of 312m² and a maximum capacity of 45 children, making it the largest among the Songpa Kiwoom Centers.
Considering the diversifying care needs, the district established the 20th branch as a ‘converged type’ center. The converged Kiwoom Center provides a safe space with play and rest for elementary school children after school, offers evening meals on weekdays, and operates care services during day and night as well as on weekends (Saturdays).
In particular, the 20th branch is composed of quiet spaces, health spaces, and dynamic play areas, providing not only care but also various programs including play and rest, reading guidance, and cultural, sports, and arts activities. Through this, it aims to further increase satisfaction among parents who face difficulties in childcare, such as dual-income families.
The operating hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. With regular operation during weekday evenings and Saturdays, it is expected to help fill the care service gap.
The service is available for elementary school students aged 6 to 12. The fees are 50,000 KRW per month for regular care, including snacks, and 2,500 KRW per day/session for temporary care. Lunch is provided free of charge during school vacations. Applications and other inquiries can be checked on the Our Neighborhood Kiwoom Portal.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “The Songpa Kiwoom Center provides more than simple care to an average of 110,000 children annually, offering exciting and educational care services such as culture and arts.” He added, “We will continue to expand Kiwoom Centers considering care demand and location, increase care support to reduce parenting burdens, and create a child-friendly environment.”
