Chang3-dong Branch, Dobong2-dong Branch No. 2... Pilot Operation Until January 31
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) has opened the 4th and 5th Seoul-style Kids Cafes.
The district announced that at the end of last month, it opened the Seoul-style Kids Cafe Dobong-gu Chang 3-dong Branch (Udangtangtang Forest Adventure) and Dobong 2-dong 2nd Branch [HOLA PLAY GROUND], and will operate them on a trial basis until the 31st of this month.
The Chang 3-dong Branch (24-5 Uicheon-ro 4-gil, 1st floor) has a total floor area of 240㎡ and can accommodate up to 22 infants and toddlers (ages 0-6) simultaneously. It was newly created by renovating the first-floor facility of the Dobong-gu Childcare Support Center in Chang-dong, which had been operated as an indoor playground.
The play space is inspired by Dobong-gu Choaansan Ecological Park and is themed around "Nature and Camping." The space is divided into ▲Udangtangtang Welcome Zone ▲Kkomul Kkomul Camping Zone ▲Sandeul Sandeul Ecology Zone ▲Udangtangtang Exploration Zone ▲Mureok Mureok Story Zone. Convenience facilities such as a nursing room and restrooms for infants, toddlers, and their guardians are also provided.
The Dobong 2-dong 2nd Branch (19 Dobong-ro 180na-gil, 1st floor) has a total floor area of 232㎡ and boasts a high ceiling. Utilizing this, various playground equipment such as a tightrope (zip line), slide, and trampoline are installed. In particular, the multi-level play course designed to stimulate curiosity is expected to satisfy children from toddlers to lower elementary school grades.
The target users are children aged 3 to 8 accompanied by a guardian, with up to 22 users per session. Reflecting the fact that there are not many play spaces available for lower elementary school students, the age limit has been extended to 8 years old.
Both the newly established Chang 3-dong Branch and Dobong 2-dong 2nd Branch secure sufficient space of more than 7㎡ per person so that children can run and play freely. Caregivers with childcare teacher certification and safety management personnel are also assigned to ensure the quality and safety of the facilities.
Use is possible after online reservation through the ‘Our Neighborhood Care Portal,’ with fees of 2,000 KRW for children and 1,000 KRW for guardians. An additional 2,000 KRW per person is charged when using the play care service. Operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.
During the trial operation period, there are 3 sessions on weekdays (Tuesday to Friday) and 3 sessions on weekends, and during the official operation period, there will be 3 sessions on weekdays and 4 sessions on weekends. Official operation starts from February 1.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “The district plans to gradually increase Seoul-style Kids Cafes with the goal of establishing 10 locations by 2026,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to promote related projects such as expanding kids cafes to create an environment where all children can play safely and freely.”
Currently, Dobong-gu has a total of five Seoul-style Kids Cafes, including the Chang 3-dong Branch, Dobong 2-dong 2nd Branch, Dobong 2-dong Branch, Banghak 1-dong Branch, and Chang 1-dong Branch. The Ssangmun 2-dong Branch is scheduled to open this month, and the Banghak 1-dong 2nd Branch is set to open in February.
