Kakao Pay Included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the Second Consecutive Year

Kakao Pay announced on the 17th that it has been included in the 2024 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) Korea index for the second consecutive year. The DJSI index is a sustainability evaluation index published annually by S&P Global in the United States, which assesses the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management levels of global companies and serves as an important benchmark for responsible investment standards for investors.

Kakao Pay succeeded in being included in the DJSI Korea index in its inaugural year in 2023, and this year, it was recognized for its continued ESG management efforts, securing inclusion in the index for the second consecutive year. Currently, Kakao Pay is the only fintech (financial technology) company included in the financial services sector of the DJSI Korea index, which includes major securities firms and card companies.

Kakao Pay has improved its performance evenly across all areas of environment, social, and governance, particularly receiving recognition for its efforts in ▲human rights management ▲human capital management ▲transparent reporting ▲corporate ethics. Since declaring ESG management in April 2022, Kakao Pay has published sustainability reports annually and has been engaged in various win-win activities such as supporting the revitalization of small business owners and providing digital financial education.

Furthermore, Kakao Pay has led ESG management by establishing the ESG Promotion Committee in 2022 and the ESG Committee under the board of directors last year. In 2022, it became the first domestic fintech company to join the UN Global Compact (UNGC), taking the lead in human rights management, and has continued environmental management by obtaining the international standard environmental management system certification (ISO14001).
