Delivery of 1,000 Boxes of Kimjang Kimchi to North Korean Defectors and Underprivileged Families
On the 13th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced that a kimchi-sharing event was held around Wonheungsa Pagoda in Changwon, hosted by Changwon Wonheungsa and the Gyeongnam Regional Council of the National Unification Advisory Council.
Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, is delivering a greeting at a kimchi-making sharing event for the underprivileged.
The kimchi-sharing event was organized to share warm hearts and healthy food with North Korean defectors, marginalized groups, and neighbors in need during the winter season.
About 100 participants, including Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, Provincial Assemblyman Park Haeyoung, believers, and local residents, joined the event.
Despite their busy schedules, the participants sincerely made kimchi, reflecting on the meaning of sharing. The 1,000 boxes of kimchi prepared will be delivered to North Korean defector families and marginalized households in the area.
Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, said, “Kimchi-making is a symbol of sharing and love. Through this event, I hope everyone feels the joy of togetherness and that it becomes a small help to neighbors in need. I thank all the officials who participated in the event and hope that the religious community will continue to take the lead in various sharing activities in the local society.”
