Ryukyung-gi, Jungnang-gu Mayor, Personally Leads Snow Removal Amid Heavy Snow Warning

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) conducted rapid snow removal operations to minimize inconvenience to residents and prevent safety accidents caused by the snow that fell from the morning of the 27th.

The district raised the snow removal alert from level 1 to level 2 at 7 a.m. on the 27th, held an emergency countermeasure meeting chaired by Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi, and activated an emergency support work system. Mayor Ryu urged, “We will mobilize all available equipment and personnel to carry out snow removal operations.”

With immediate response, the district deployed a total of 3,042 personnel, including about 440 employees led by Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi of Jungnang-gu Office and professional organizations, to start snow removal across all 16 neighborhoods.

At the same time, 29 pieces of equipment such as multipurpose vehicles and large vehicles were mobilized, and 211 tons of snow removal materials including calcium chloride and salt were urgently supplied to proceed with the work swiftly.

They thoroughly inspected main roads, slopes, and vulnerable areas, and maintained various locations used by residents such as bus stops and narrow alleys, doing their best to prevent safety accidents.

Mayor Ryu himself took part in snow removal at Bonghwasan Mountain. Together with employees, he directly cleared snow at the entrance of hiking trails and walking paths on Bonghwasan Mountain to check on residents’ safety.

Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi said, “We prioritize the safety of residents and all staff are responding thoroughly,” and added, “We ask residents to join in creating a safe Jungnang by clearing snow in front of their homes and stores for the safety of everyone.”
