This agreement was established to prevent major disasters and accidents at small and medium-sized hazardous material handling businesses in the petrochemical sector of Ulsan, the largest industrial city in Korea, and was held with the attendance of over 30 guests, including the chairman of the Onsan Industrial Complex Association.
According to the agreement, the three organizations will mutually cooperate to conduct safety inspections and assessments of hazardous material handling businesses in the region, provide on-site practical training, and strengthen disaster safety systems.
The Korea National Oil Corporation will carry out disaster safety accident prevention inspections and on-site diagnostics using professional personnel; Ulsan City will select target businesses and provide administrative support; and the Explosion Protection Association will offer inspections of explosion-proof facilities and technical consultations.
An official from Ulsan City emphasized, "Considering the characteristics of Ulsan as an industrial city, disaster safety accident prevention activities are of utmost importance," and expressed expectations that "through this agreement, specialized private institutions and the public sector can organically cooperate to further strengthen the regional disaster safety response system."
This agreement takes effect immediately upon signing and will be maintained continuously until the parties agree to terminate it. The three organizations plan to continue promoting disaster safety accident prevention activities to create a safe industrial environment in the Ulsan region.
