The governments of Korea and the Czech Republic have established a 'hotline' between their ministries of industry and agreed to hold regular meetings soon to successfully advance the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant construction project, the largest investment project in Czech history.
A presidential special envoy delegation, led by Sung Tae-yoon, Chief of Policy Office at the Presidential Office, visited the Czech Republic on the 24th (local time) to deliver a letter of appreciation from President Yoon Suk-yeol for selecting Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power as the preferred negotiator for the new nuclear power plant construction project, and discussed the matter, the Presidential Office announced.
Earlier, President Yoon had announced that he would dispatch a special envoy delegation composed of Chief Sung and Minister Ahn Duk-geun of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to the Czech Republic for follow-up discussions on the Czech nuclear power project.
The special envoy delegation paid a courtesy call on Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala that day. Chief Sung, as the head of the special envoy delegation, expressed gratitude once again on behalf of the Korean government and 'Team Korea' for the opportunity to participate in the Czech new nuclear power plant construction project.
Chief Sung conveyed the president’s message, saying, "President Yoon has instructed all related agencies to make every effort to ensure the success of the Dukovany nuclear power plant construction project, the largest investment project in Czech history."

The two governments agreed to open a hotline between their ministries of industry to support smooth follow-up measures for the Czech nuclear power project and to hold regular meetings soon to discuss cooperation measures covering all areas of nuclear power, including construction, workforce training, technology development, and joint ventures in third countries.
They also agreed to closely coordinate to ensure that President Yoon’s visit to the Czech Republic in September, decided during a phone call between the two heads of state the previous day, achieves great results.
Prime Minister Fiala congratulated Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power once again on being selected as the preferred negotiator, saying, "The new nuclear power plant will be a crucial turning point for securing the Czech Republic’s energy security and strengthening industrial competitiveness, and through this cooperation, we expect the strong strategic partnership between the two countries to become even more solid."
Chief Sung proposed, "Since both countries have manufacturing-based industrial structures with great potential for economic cooperation, let us significantly expand cooperation between the two countries in industries such as manufacturing, energy, and science and technology."
The Czech side expressed agreement and responded that they would continue detailed discussions in the future, the Presidential Office reported.
