750 Bottles of Acacia Honey Produced at Beekeeping Experience Center Delivered to 3 Local Welfare Facilities on the 12th
Beekeeping Experience Center... Urban Beekeeping Education and Beekeeping Experience Classes for Local Residents
Guro-gu (Mayor Moon Heon-il) held a 'Honey Donation Ceremony from Honey Produced at the Beekeeping Experience Center' on the 12th at the Renaissance Hall on the 3rd floor of the district office, donating 750 bottles of acacia honey to three welfare facilities in the area.
The honey delivered at this event was acacia honey directly harvested at the beekeeping experience center operated by the district (Gung-dong 62), amounting to 750 bottles in 600g containers.
The market value of this donation is approximately 13.5 million KRW.
The district delivered 250 bottles each to three welfare facilities: Guro Senior Welfare Center, Onsu Senior Welfare Center, and Guro Food Market Center, to ensure the honey harvested at the beekeeping experience center reaches vulnerable residents.
Each welfare facility will subsequently distribute the honey to crisis and emergency support recipients, basic livelihood security recipients, and low-income residents.
Additionally, Guro-gu operates urban beekeeping education and beekeeping experience classes annually for local residents at the beekeeping experience center.
On the 9th, a certificate ceremony was held for 21 of the 25 participants who completed the urban beekeeping education conducted over approximately three months from April to July this year. From August 27 to October 22, beekeeping experience classes will be held every Tuesday in a one-day lecture format for adults (9:30 AM to 11:30 AM) and children (3 PM to 5 PM). For more details, please contact the Regional Economy Division of Guro-gu Office.
Mayor Moon Heon-il of Guro-gu said, “I am proud to be able to help neighbors in need with honey directly harvested at the beekeeping experience center, and we plan to continue donating steadily. We will do our best to revitalize urban agriculture by providing various programs such as beekeeping education and experiences.”
