Trot Fairy Jeon Yujin Wins Final Victory on MBN's 'Active King of Singers'

Jeon Yujin (17), the 'Trot Fairy' singer born in Pohang, won first place in the final ranking on the MBN show 'Active King' aired on the night of the 13th, becoming the first-ever Active King.

Mayor Lee Gang-deok is congratulating and taking a commemorative photo with Jeon Yu-jin, Pohang City Ambassador, who won the final ranking in MBN's 'Current King of Singers' on the 14th in Donghae-myeon.

In the previous broadcast, Jeon Yujin ranked first by tallying the total score from Round 1, on-site judging, nationwide support voting, and real-time text voting, thus ascending as the first 'Active King.'

Seventeen-year-old Jeon Yujin, appointed as a Pohang city ambassador in January 2021 and reappointed in 2023, is a representative singer of Pohang. She is currently attending Pohang Dongseong High School and gained nationwide love by showcasing an impressive stage and skills during her participation in 'Miss Trot 2' while attending Donghae Middle School.

She has continuously promoted the Pohang region by participating in the Pohang Love Address Campaign song and music video, and last year, she actively supported the Pohang Hometown Love Donation Program, continuing her hometown love activities.

When the news of Jeon Yujin’s victory as Active King was delivered, the citizens of Pohang, who had given full support through nationwide support voting in the previous competition, celebrated and cheered together.

Banners congratulating Jeon Yujin’s victory were displayed throughout Pohang city and near Donghae-myeon, her hometown.

On the 14th, Mayor Lee Kang-deok met Jeon Yujin in Donghae-myeon, Pohang, to congratulate her on her victory and encourage her future activities. Present at the meeting were Yoon Jae-deok, principal of Pohang Dongseong High School where Jeon Yujin is enrolled, Baek In-gyu, chairman of the city council, members of Jeon Yujin’s fan club, and local residents, all celebrating her victory with one heart.

Mayor Lee Kang-deok said, “On behalf of the citizens of Pohang, I congratulate singer Jeon Yujin, our city’s ambassador, on becoming the Active King. I hope Jeon Yujin will use her bright and positive energy to expand her activities and become the best singer beyond Korea.”

Jeon Yujin said, “Thanks to the support from many people in my hometown Pohang, I gained strength and was able to achieve good results. I will continue to repay the support with good performances.”

Pohang City expects that with Jeon Yujin, known as the 'Pohang Dolphin,' winning the Active King title, the resulting synergy effect will maximize promotion of local tourist attractions and more.
