The Daegu Headquarters of the Research and Development Special Zone Promotion Foundation (hereinafter Daegu Special Zone) announced that it has achieved various results in revitalizing the industrial ecosystem of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region through technology transfer contracts and the establishment of research institute companies by conducting the ‘2023 Strategic Technology Specialization Discovery Matching Project.’
The headquarters selected promising technologies from those held by universities in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region, considering the nation’s 12 strategic technologies and the Daegu Special Zone’s 6 specialized fields. By holding numerous technology briefings and networking events, they introduced selected promising technologies to many companies in need of technology, thereby supporting technology transfer and commercialization activation.
Through the ‘2023 Strategic Technology Specialization Discovery Matching Project,’ Daegu Special Zone promoted activities to discover excellent public technologies in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk area and match them with companies located in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region and nationwide that require such technologies. This led to achievements such as technology transfer contracts in various fields and the establishment of research institute companies.
Additionally, by directly promoting the commercialization of technologies held by public research institutions, they achieved the establishment of multiple research institute companies within the Daegu Special Zone that combine the technologies of government-funded research institutes with the commercialization funds and know-how of Daegu-Gyeongbuk companies.
Furthermore, companies that received public technologies from universities and research institutions in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region were supported in establishing business models through connections with professional consulting organizations, enabling immediate commercialization of the respective technologies.
Seodong-gyeong, head of the Daegu Special Zone, stated, “We are very pleased that various technology commercialization achievements were derived as a result of conducting the project centered on the nation’s 12 strategic technologies and the Daegu Special Zone’s 6 specialized fields.” He added, “We will continue to make great efforts and provide unwavering support for technology commercialization to revitalize the technology-based industrial ecosystem of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region in the future.”
