Cold chain platform Teamfresh is entering the alcoholic beverage distribution market.
After taking its first step into the distribution business through food ingredient supply in 2019, it is expected to accelerate the expansion of its distribution business by broadening the range of handled products.
Teamfresh is a prospective unicorn company linking various revenue businesses such as food ingredient distribution and F&B franchises based on cold chain logistics. Recognized for its high growth rate and excellent business potential, it successfully raised 160 billion KRW in investment last year.
A Teamfresh representative stated that they established the comprehensive liquor wholesale corporation 'Teamf Liquor' in June and have begun full-scale business operations. According to the representative, leveraging existing logistics infrastructure and synergies between business units will enable rapid business scale expansion.
In particular, stores handling both food ingredients and alcoholic beverages can offer highly competitive prices, enabling more aggressive customer acquisition. From the store owners' perspective, convenience is expected to increase as they can resolve both food ingredient and liquor needs simultaneously.
With many years of experience in logistics and food ingredient distribution, Teamfresh already possesses most of the infrastructure necessary for liquor distribution. Having a fundamental understanding of cold chain business, it is expected to effectively expand its scope not only to general liquors such as soju and beer but also to traditional liquors sensitive to certain storage temperatures.
Teamfresh plans to expand the types of liquors handled within the year to include traditional liquors, specific liquors, and imported liquors. This is to target the premium liquor market, such as premium Makgeolli and whiskey, which is rapidly spreading mainly among the MZ generation.
In a situation where there is no leading company covering both logistics and distribution, Teamfresh aims to establish itself as an emerging powerhouse in the industry by expanding its handled categories based on existing infrastructure.
Teamf Liquor has attracted attention for its growth potential by recording approximately 20 times sales growth within three months of launching the business.
