Pop R&B-Based 'Layover' Released Today
Min Heejin, ADOR CEO, as Executive Producer
Group BTS member V (Kim Taehyung) will simultaneously release his first solo album 'Layover' worldwide at 1 p.m. on the 8th.
V has showcased his musical abilities through solo tracks included in BTS albums, self-composed songs released as free music, and drama OSTs, but this is his first time releasing a solo album under his own name.
The album title 'Layover' means 'to stop over,' implying a time to take a short break, reflect on the past journey, and contemplate the final destination.
Through his agency Big Hit Music, V said, "I feel a great burden as I am the last to step forward after the other members have successfully completed their solo activities, but I will steadily show everything I have prepared." He added, "Since this album contains the charm of the human Kim Taehyung as it is, you can expect points of uniqueness, surprise, and relaxation."
'Layover' is composed of songs that fuse V's distinctive style and sensibility based on the pop R&B genre. It includes a total of six tracks: the title track 'Slow Dancing,' the pre-released songs 'Rainy Days' and 'Love Me Again,' as well as 'Blue,' 'For Us,' and the bonus track 'Slow Dancing (Piano Ver.).'
The album reflects V's tastes, incorporating styles he usually likes. Notably, 'Layover' is a work led by Min Heejin, CEO of ADOR and general producer, who oversaw the entire album production including music, choreography, design, and promotion.
General producer Min focused on the simplicity behind the glamour and infused V's natural charm into the music. Big Hit Music explained, "As a result, an album filled with V's vocal tone and original color was completed, truly focusing on 'V' and 'music' itself."
V produced a total of five music videos. Before the album release, the music videos for 'Rainy Days' and 'Love Me Again' were pre-released. The 'Love Me Again' music video, filmed in a cave with a mysterious atmosphere, highlights V's deep gaze and dreamy vocal tone. The 'Rainy Days' music video calmly captures V spending an ordinary day alone.
The teaser for the 'Blue' music video, released next, features a black-and-white screen and shows a serious-looking V, arousing curiosity about the full video.
At midnight on the same day, the teaser for the title track 'Slow Dancing' music video, filmed on a beach in Spain, was released. V enjoying swimming in the emerald-colored sea conveys a sense of relaxation and freedom. The full music video will be posted at 1 p.m. on the same day on the HYBE LABELS YouTube channel.
V raised expectations for 'Layover' by presenting 102 concept photos and various YouTube content.
As BTS members have started their military service one by one, V is the last to begin individual activities. After the album release, V plans to engage in various activities to communicate with more fans.
Additionally, he will appear on domestic and international music shows to deliver unique stages such as 'Slow Dancing' and showcase his cheerful charm on various entertainment programs.
