Jeju Air announced on the 8th that it will launch customized services for travelers accompanied by pets and actively engage in campaigns for animal protection.
As the number of customers traveling with pets has recently increased, Jeju Air's pet transportation performance has also grown significantly. The number of pet transportations, which was only about 7,000 cases in 2019, increased nearly threefold in three years by transporting 20,723 pets last year alone.
In line with this travel trend, Jeju Air launched the ‘Pet Pass’ service, which allows customers traveling with pets to accumulate stamps based on the number of flights boarded and receive various benefits according to the number of stamps collected.
For Jeju Air members, one stamp is automatically credited for domestic flights when traveling with a dog one-way, and two stamps for international flights. Non-members can apply for stamp accumulation by signing up for membership after boarding. According to the accumulated stamps, collecting 3 stamps grants 10,000 Refresh Points, 6 stamps provide a 50% discount on the domestic one-way pet transportation service fee, and 8 stamps offer a free domestic one-way pet transportation service.
Additionally, Jeju Air is conducting a pet campaign titled ‘Happy Travel with Pets’ with the famous children’s book author Jeon Isu to convey the preciousness of life to customers.
Using Jeon Isu’s artwork themed around pets, Jeju Air plans to produce pet cages and passenger information cards, as well as launch and sell collaborative planned products with the author. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of these planned products will be donated to stray dog protection activities.
Since November 2021, Jeju Air has raised the weight limit for pets allowed to board in the cabin and expanded the maximum number of pets per flight from 3 to 6, making it easier for travelers with pets to take air trips. Also, since May last year, Jeju Air has started selling a dedicated ‘Pet-Meal’ for dogs.
The types of pets allowed to board the cabin when using Jeju Air are dogs, cats, and birds. One adult passenger can board with one pet (including a cage weighing up to 7kg), and the pet must be kept in a cage measuring no more than 37cm in width, 23cm in height, and with a total of three sides not exceeding 100cm, stored under the seat in front of the passenger’s seat.
If you do not have a cage, you can purchase one for a fee at the check-in counter. Both domestic and international flights require the completion of a pet transportation pledge form. For international flights, additional documents such as quarantine certificates and rabies vaccination certificates must be checked according to the destination country’s requirements.
