Review of Helicopter Deployment at Sunrise

Simultaneous wildfires broke out in four locations in Gangwon Province: Hwacheon, Goseong, Yanggu, and Wonju. Firefighting efforts in Hwacheon and Goseong are continuing through the night.

According to the forestry authorities on the 21st, a fire started around 4:26 PM near a hill in Heulli, Ganseong-eup, Goseong County. The containment rate is currently 95%, and it is expected to be extinguished overnight. If the flames are not controlled, helicopters will be deployed at sunrise.

At 11:29 AM, a fire broke out during mortar firing training at the military shooting range in Anpyeong-ri, Hanam-myeon, Hwacheon County. The fire burned 2 hectares of initial vegetation and left a fire line about 250 to 300 meters long, but it is not spreading.

At 3:17 PM, a wildfire occurred in Gyohyang-ri, Socho-myeon, Wonju City. Two firefighting helicopters and 74 firefighters were deployed, and the fire was extinguished in about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

At 2:27 PM, a wildfire broke out about 2 km south of the Civilian Access Control Line (Min-tong-seon) in Geonsol-ri, Bangsan-myeon, Yanggu, and was extinguished in about 3 hours and 20 minutes.
