Lawsuit to Cancel 'Cancellation of Medical School Admission'
Questions Expected on Whether the Award Certificate Was Forged
Cho Min, the daughter of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, will appear in court as a witness on the 16th regarding the cancellation of her admission to the Pusan National University School of Medicine.
According to the legal community on the 16th, Cho will attend court at 2 p.m. for the plaintiff's witness examination in the lawsuit to cancel the admission cancellation decision by Pusan National University School of Medicine, held at the Busan District Court Administrative Division 1 (Presiding Judge Geum Deok-hee).
At the continuation trial held on the 2nd of last month, Cho's side requested personal protection for her appearance in court. However, the court stated, "Basically, the plaintiff's own witness examination is not necessary, but she is doing it voluntarily," and did not accept the request. The court also announced, "The trial will be public, and there will be no special witness protection measures."
Cho is expected to express her position regarding the cancellation of her admission to Pusan National University School of Medicine in court that day. In April, Cho's side filed a lawsuit against Pusan National University, which canceled her admission, seeking to revoke the cancellation decision and also filed a provisional injunction to suspend the effect of the decision.
The court partially granted Cho's request in the provisional injunction application. Accordingly, Cho will be able to maintain her status as a graduate student of the School of Medicine until 30 days after the main lawsuit verdict date.
During the trial, questions are also expected regarding her awareness of the forged Dongyang University certificate.
Meanwhile, Cho appeared for the first time on the YouTube channel "Kim Eo-jun's Humility is Difficult News Factory" on the 6th of last month, revealing her face. She said, "For the past four years, I have lived only as the daughter of former Minister Cho Kuk, but watching my father receive a prison sentence made me deeply reflect on whether I am honorable or not," adding, "I am honorable. I have lived without shame. Now, I want to live confidently as Cho Min, not just as Cho Kuk's daughter, without hiding."
Cho claimed, "You cannot become a doctor with a certificate," and added, "I had sufficient scores in the categories required for admission at the time. Some were even more than enough. I was told I have sufficient qualifications to be a (medical) doctor."
