[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Wanyong] Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 14th that it has urgently provided approximately 200 million KRW worth of goods, including 20,000 briquettes and 112,000 liters of heating oil, to 660 households in Hanam City and Goyang City to alleviate heating cost burdens for vulnerable groups.
According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Bapsang Community, the production and import volume of anthracite briquettes and briquette donations have continuously decreased, and recently, the burden of heating costs has increased.
Accordingly, LH advanced the schedule for donating goods, which was previously conducted in the second half of the year, to the beginning of the year to support heating for housing-vulnerable groups. The donated goods are delivered to residents through the Warm Love Briquette Sharing Movement.
An LH official said, "By urgently supporting energy goods to 660 marginalized households facing difficulties, we hope they can spend the remaining winter and the cold snap warmly," and added, "We will continue our efforts to contribute socially for the stabilization of low-income households' lives."
