Fire Drill Conducted Including CPR and Fire Extinguisher Usage Training
An employee of Gyeongsangnam-do is receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation training during the 2022 provincial government building fire drill.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] On the 25th, Gyeongsangnam-do conducted the '2022 Provincial Government Building Fire Drill' for about 150 provincial employees.
The drill was organized to improve employees' practical response capabilities in case of emergencies such as fires.
According to the province, fire drills are mandated to be conducted at least twice a year along with education, in accordance with Article 24 of the Act on Fire Prevention, Installation and Maintenance of Firefighting Facilities and Safety Management, and Article 14 of the Regulations on Fire Safety Management of Public Institutions.
Due to the impact of COVID-19 over the past two years, the province had been conducting non-face-to-face training such as video viewing, but this time, with the support of the Education Team of Changwon Uichang Fire Station, it was implemented as a practical group training combining theory and practice.
The main training contents included ▲how to use a fire extinguisher ▲pediatric and adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) ▲how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).
Employees practiced CPR on mannequins by following steps such as ▲checking for cardiac arrest and apnea ▲calling 119 for help ▲interlocking fingers in the center of the chest and pressing vertically on the body, thereby learning the CPR procedure in order.
A provincial official said, “This systematic training combining theory and practice was a good opportunity to enhance our ability to respond in emergency situations,” and added, “We will continue to promote various drills for different situations so that we can respond immediately in real situations.”
