[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the morning of the 19th, Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, met with Won Hee-ryong, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, in Yeouido to request smooth progress and active consideration of local issues.
The agenda discussed that day included ▲replacement construction of soundproof walls related to the Gyeongwon Line (between Nokcheon and Changdong) ▲underground construction of the entire GTX-C Dobong-gu section (5.4 km section from Changdong to Dobongsan) ▲cooperation in purchasing land from Korea Railroad Corporation for environmental improvement of Banghak Station on Line 1.
Mayor Oh Eon-seok requested that the Korea Land and Housing Corporation carry out the replacement construction of the soundproof walls on the Gyeongwon Line (Nokcheon Station to Changdong Station) in accordance with the corrective recommendations of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, and urged the early confirmation of the underground construction of the GTX-C line Dobong-gu section through negotiation of an implementation agreement between the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and private operators to expedite the project.
In particular, the GTX-C line Dobong-gu section was originally planned for underground construction but was changed to aboveground (shared with the Gyeongwon Line). Mayor Oh proposed that the underground construction of the Dobong-gu section, confirmed in the legally mandated plans such as the 'C Line Replanning Study (Dec. 2015)', 'Preliminary Feasibility Study (Dec. 2018)', and 'Feasibility Study and Basic Plan (Oct. 2020)', be implemented as originally planned.
Regarding the environmental improvement (remodeling) project of Banghak Station, which opened in the 1980s, he requested active promotion by Korea Railroad Corporation for the essential opening of Exit 4 to improve the aging environment.
Mayor Oh Eon-seok of Dobong-gu said, “Minister Won Hee-ryong of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport fully understood the difficulties of local residents and responded that he would actively consider the discussed issues. We will continue to convey the voices of residents and knock on the doors of related departments to promptly resolve the longstanding issues of the region.”
Jongno-gu (Mayor Jeong Mun-heon) will hold the 'Jongno-gu & Jogyesa Employment Fair' at the Daewoongjeon Hall of Jogyesa Temple on the 26th.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the event will include ▲on-site interviews and recruitment between employers and job seekers ▲employment counseling and resume consulting ▲vocational training counseling and provision of employment support education information.
The fair will operate a total of 20 booths, including employment support centers (Jogyesa Job Sharing Center, Jongno Job Plus Center), employment-related organizations (Labor-Management Development Foundation, Seoul Employment and Labor Office Seoul Employment Center, etc.), and corporate recruitment booths (11 hiring companies). Various experience booths such as calligraphy and making eco-friendly solid shampoo will also be available.
In particular, Mayor Jeong Mun-heon and Chief Monk Ji-hyun of Jogyesa will serve as one-day employment counselors to listen to job seekers' employment difficulties and strengthen community bonds.
Those wishing to participate in the fair can visit the Daewoongjeon Hall of Jogyesa on the day of the event without any separate procedures. Bringing an ID card will allow on-site resume writing and interview opportunities.
Since signing a business agreement with Jogyesa in 2013, Jongno-gu has held the fair once or twice a year to provide quality job information and strive for employment stabilization in the local community. However, the event was temporarily suspended in 2020 and 2021 to prevent the spread of COVID-19, but this year, marking the 10th anniversary of the agreement, a large-scale employment information sharing event has been prepared again.
Mayor Jeong Mun-heon stated, “This event was prepared to alleviate the difficulties of residents urgently seeking employment and to find suitable talent for companies in need of manpower,” adding, “We will continue to implement quality policies to revitalize employment in the local community and make Jongno a place abundant with jobs.”
