Civilian Vehicle Convoy Attacked in Zaporizhzhia, Southern Ukraine
Russia attacked a convoy of civilian vehicles in Zaporizhzhia, southern Ukraine, killing 23 people and injuring 28, according to major foreign news agencies including the Associated Press on the 30th (local time).
According to reports, Oleksandr Starukh, governor of Zaporizhzhia, stated on Telegram that "casualties have occurred and rescue operations are underway."
He also said that the convoy was a humanitarian escort heading to Russian-occupied territory to bring relatives to a safe place, and that all casualties were civilians.
The AP reported that Russia did not immediately respond to the attack.
Since the invasion of Ukraine on February 24, Russia has never admitted to targeting civilians and claims that it precisely targets only military objectives.
