Promotion of Drone MoT Service Verification Until December
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Wonju City has been selected for the "2022 Drone Demonstration City Construction Project" led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
Wonju City announced on the 17th, "33 local governments applied for the Drone Demonstration City Construction Project, and 9 local governments were selected," adding, "Wonju City was the only city in Gangwon Province to be selected and will receive a demonstration budget of 1.3 billion KRW in national funds."
The Drone Demonstration City Construction Project is a policy that supports verification of drone utilization tailored to regional characteristics.
The city plans to promote verification of the drone MoT (Mobility of Things) service, starting the project in March and carrying it out until December.
It plans to build infrastructure such as a 4G/5G drone-dedicated communication airspace network cluster, drone identification system, and MoT communication system.
In the business sector, it will promote social safety net services based on battery-swappable drone stations, real-time tourist observatory drone services, and drone-dedicated airspace communication quality measurement services.
It will also establish citizen-participation drone wildfire monitoring services, quantum encryption-based drone identification system services, integrated drone control, and AI mission platforms.
Earlier last year, the city was selected as a special drone deregulation zone and completed preparations for the project, including signing a business agreement with KT in February to build a drone demonstration city.
Acting Mayor of Wonju, in charge of drone operations, said, "The drone demonstration city project will serve as a catalyst to lay the foundation for fostering the drone industry and ensure that demonstration models integrated into administrative fields can be commercialized."
