[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Seven Eleven announced on the 2nd that it has launched an ultra-low-priced ‘Iddalla Dosirak’ in response to the significant increase in lunchbox demand due to the impact of COVID-19.
The Iddalla Dosirak is simply composed of white rice with the most popular side dishes, Vienna sausage and stir-fried kimchi. The price is 2,200 won, which is more than 50% cheaper compared to regular lunchboxes. It is currently the lowest priced lunchbox among all convenience stores.
According to Seven Eleven, from the 12th to the 31st of last month, when the social distancing level was raised to level 4, lunchbox sales increased by 27% in office districts and 24.7% in residential districts compared to the same period last year.
A Seven Eleven official said, “Like other products, it can be eaten together and we introduced this product focusing on the demand of consumers who want a simple lunchbox at an affordable price,” adding, “Since various combinations are possible according to consumer preferences, we expect linked sales with various products.”
