[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] The Eunpyeong Police Station in Seoul announced on the 31st that they have arrested a man in his 50s, Mr. A, on suspicion of attempted murder for stabbing a pedestrian with a weapon after bumping into him on the street, and have applied for an arrest warrant.
According to the police, Mr. A, who was intoxicated around 11 p.m. the previous day, was walking through an alley in Daejo-dong, Eunpyeong-gu, when he bumped shoulders with a pedestrian and then allegedly swung a weapon, stabbing the pedestrian multiple times in the abdomen.
After the crime, Mr. A fled but returned to the scene to retrieve a mobile phone he had left behind and was caught by the police. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition without life-threatening injuries.
The police explained that they applied the charge of attempted murder, believing that Mr. A had the intent to kill.
