[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Juhee] Popular mukbang YouTuber Tzuyang, who sparked controversy over undisclosed advertisements, has announced her intention to quit broadcasting.
On the 6th, Tzuyang posted a video titled "I will end my YouTube broadcasts" on her YouTube channel, declaring her retirement.
Tzuyang said, "In the early days after I started broadcasting, I did not disclose advertisements in several videos. This was clearly wrong, and I apologize for it," adding, "During the short period after I started broadcasting, I was ignorant of YouTube-related guidelines. It was my fault for not studying them more thoroughly," apologizing regarding the recent controversy.
She continued, "However, I have previously spoken honestly about this issue, and since then, I have strictly complied with advertisement disclosure laws for a long time, broadcasting without deceiving viewers and without any shame."
Regarding her reason for quitting broadcasting, Tzuyang said, "I am tired of the comment culture spreading false claims such as 'secretly doing undisclosed advertisements,' 'tax evasion,' and 'fraud,' rather than criticism for the mistakes I made, and I no longer want to continue broadcasting," adding, "I am truly sorry and grateful to those who have supported me so far."
Through comments on the video, she also showed firm determination to retire by stating, "To those who say I will definitely come back: I will never return, so you don't need to worry."
Earlier, popular mukbang YouTubers including Tzuyang faced allegations of not disclosing advertisements despite receiving brand support, sparking the 'undisclosed advertisement' controversy. Related to this controversy, popular mukbang YouTubers Moon Bokhee (4.62 million), Hamji (3.77 million), and Fran (2.84 million) admitted the facts and apologized through their YouTube channels.
