"My girlfriend is actually here today. Is it okay if I have her come up to the stage and I sing for her?" Fans started to stir as member Park Kyoung made the shocking announcement at the recording session for cable music channel MTV's "Match Up" at Hongdae's V-Hall on July 27. And it was where idol groups Block B and B1A4 were holding their first mini concerts in line with the show's format of rivals performing against each other. Hence there was probably no betrayal greater than that felt by Park's fans who were there to show their support for the competition. And the fans' reaction which started with "Oohs" intensified to "Kiss! Kiss!" when Park pecked the woman on the lips, and when that woman said, "I don't know what you think of him but I would do anything for Park!" a fan burst into tears. But the truth was that she was actually Park's older sister. Park repeated "I got you!" to fans and P.O, pleased by the reaction, stomped his feet with a wide grin on his face. This may have been quite a mischievous joke for them to have played on their fans but the reason "Match Up" chose Block B to be on their show was this very slyness about them which makes them different from the typical newcomers to the music scene.
In the meantime, unlike Block B which trains their fans, B1A4 confessed their overflowing affection for their fans. Screams automatically broke out amongst fans when the five boys sang in harmony with their fair complexions and smiling eyes. And it has only been a mere three months since B1A4 too made their debut. The cute bottom dance that the group's youngest member Gongchan danced with his "pretty bottom" and the 'heart dance' that CNU danced as he blushed from embarrassment, seemed a bit awkward yet was refreshing. Hence with B1A4 it was not them but their fans that were playing the jokes. When leader Jinyoung disappeared behind the stage while singing after pretending to be sulking, fans shouted out "Bring him back by kissing him!" to which CNU awkwardly responded, "What? Kiss him?" Like so, "Match Up" is a 'match' for fans who want to enjoy both aspects of idol stars with different appeals.
