2PM's Nichkhun [JYP Entertainment]
2PM member Nichkhun has publicly apologized for his recent drunk driving accident.The idol star posted a long comment on his official Twitter account today, addressing the car accident which he caused while driving under the influence of alcohol in southern Seoul on Tuesday. "I would like to write this letter of apology for such an irresponsible act. To the injured person, his family, the people of Korea, my fans, JYPE family and staffs, 2PM members, and all the people this situation has affected."He added, "I have betrayed the ones who have given me their love and support, the love and support I don't deserve with such behavior. I feel the need to take some time off to re-think about my action and myself, to make myself a better person and never again repeat the same mistake. Nichkhun ended his apology by saying, "I am truly ashamed that I have disappointed so many, and I am deeply sorry." Additionally, JYP Entertainment (JYPE) announced in a press release today that Nichkhun has decided to halt all his activities temporarily for self-reflection.He will not participate in the upcoming JYP Nation joint concert opening in Korea and Japan next month, as well as their free fan event called, "FAN's Day.""We will adjust any forthcoming schedules for Nichkhun within the boundary of not damaging any business deals," the officials explained, adding that the firm will work harder in managing their artists. On July 24, Nichkhun rear-ended a motorcycle while driving under the influence of alcohol. At the time of the accident, he had a blood alcohol level of 0.056 percent, which leads to the suspension of his driver's license. JYPE issued a press release right after the accident, saying that Nickhun had consumed about two glasses of beer with fellow JYPE artists after a concert rehearsal, and the accident happened while he was driving back to the dorm. Nichkhun, whose full name is Nichkun Buck Horvejkul, is a Thai-American singer who was discovered and trained as a member of boy band 2PM by JYP Entertainment. 2PM recently wrapped up their Asia tour after performing in several countries throughout Asia including Taiwan, China, Singapore and Malaysia. Aside from his group activities, Nichkhun has appeared on a number of variety shows such as MBC’s reality TV series “We Got Married," and made his film debut in Japan with a role in "Ouran High School Host Club."
