President Lee Jaemyung criticized on March 4 that fabricating evidence or cases by abusing investigative and prosecutorial powers is worse than robbery or murder.
On that day, President Lee stated on his X (formerly Twitter) account, "It is worse than robbery, kidnapping, or murder for a public official to fabricate evidence or cases in order to kill, steal from, or detain someone by using the investigative and prosecutorial powers entrusted by the people to achieve justice."
Along with his post, President Lee also shared an article titled, 'Kim Seongtae: "I did not give money to Lee Jaemyung... Prosecution is playing tricks," audio recording released.' The article reported that the Ministry of Justice had obtained a recording of a close associate of former Ssangbangwool Chairman Kim Seongtae during its inspection of the "North Korea remittance investigation."
The article claimed that the recording included statements such as, "(Ssangbangwool) did not give money to Lee Jaemyung," and "Lee Jaemyung has been caught up in absurd matters." It also reported that it had been confirmed that former Chairman Kim confided to his associate, "The prosecution is abusing its prosecutorial powers at will."
