"I Will Restart the Stalled Dongjak"
Pledges to Normalize Redevelopment and Welfare
Changwoo Lee, former Dongjak District Mayor, officially announced his candidacy as a prospective candidate for Dongjak District Mayor, stating on March 4, "I will restart the stalled clock of Dongjak, and bring about tangible change through proven administration."

Lee emphasized, "Now that a competent government is transforming Korea, it's Dongjak’s turn for change," and added, "Based on the achievements and administrative experience I accumulated while serving as Dongjak District Mayor from 2014 to 2022, I will put the district’s development back on track." He continued, "Politics is not about conflict, but about results; not about ideology, but about competence," stressing the need for a mayor who can deliver tangible outcomes through cooperation with the central government.
Regarding the 8th popularly elected district administration, Lee assessed, "A lack of continuity in administration has led to policy confusion and stagnation in residents' livelihoods." He said, "The consequences of inexperienced administration by someone unfamiliar with Dongjak are clear-policy confusion, wasteful budgets, and inconvenience for residents." He added, "I solemnly accept responsibility for stepping aside from seeking a third term, and I will fulfill the halted progress."
Having served as Dongjak District Mayor for the 6th and 7th terms, Lee highlighted that he resolved a series of longstanding local issues during his tenure, including: the creation of the Jangseungbaegi Integrated Administrative Town, the first-ever supply of public housing by a local government, the advancement of Heukseok High School, and the development of the Yongyang Bongjeojeong area into a tourist destination.
As his core campaign pledge, Lee set forth "normalizing the abnormal" by restoring the pace of redevelopment and reconstruction throughout Dongjak. He declared, "Redevelopment is not just about buildings; it is about transforming lives," expressing his commitment to normalize maintenance projects. He also pledged, "I will restore tailored welfare throughout all stages of life so that no one-from children to the elderly-is left behind."
Lee concluded, "With even more experience, deeper wisdom, and stronger capabilities, I will ensure definite change in Dongjak," vowing, "I will prove the success of the Lee Jaemyung administration here in Dongjak."
