A Day Marked by Jeongwol Daeboreum and the Total Lunar Eclipse
On Tuesday, the 3rd, the entire country will be cloudy, but the skies will gradually clear from the evening. As it is Jeongwol Daeboreum (the first full moon of the lunar year), most regions except for the eastern part of the country are expected to observe a total lunar eclipse, where the moon is completely covered by Earth's shadow. During this phenomenon, the moon appears red, which is why it is also called a "blood moon."
The Korea Meteorological Administration has forecast that temperatures will remain higher than the average for this time of year (average low: -5 to 4 degrees Celsius, average high: 7 to 12 degrees Celsius) for the time being. The high temperature during the day is expected to range from 5 to 16 degrees Celsius. However, strong winds are expected nationwide, so caution is advised.

According to detailed regional observation data (AWS), at 6 AM this morning, the temperature was recorded as follows: Seoul 2.2 degrees Celsius, Incheon 1.3 degrees, Chuncheon 1.6 degrees, Gangneung 4.1 degrees, Daejeon 3.0 degrees, Daegu 5.0 degrees, Jeonju 4.7 degrees, Gwangju 6.1 degrees, Busan 7.1 degrees, and Jeju 9.7 degrees.
In most regions across the country, there will be places where strong winds with instantaneous speeds of 55 kilometers per hour (15 meters per second) or more are expected, so facility management and safety precautions are necessary. In particular, along the eastern coast of North Gyeongsang Province and the coastal areas of South Gyeongsang Province, where strong wind advisories are in effect, wind gusts may exceed 70 kilometers per hour (20 meters per second), so extra caution is required for facility inspections and management.
In addition, until 9 AM, there may be rain or snow in northeastern Gyeonggi Province; until 12 PM, in central and northern inland Gangwon, inland North Gyeongsang, Busan, and South Gyeongsang; until 6 PM, in the northeastern mountainous areas of North Gyeongsang, the east coast, Ulsan, and Jeju; and until night, in the east coast and mountainous areas of Gangwon. The expected snowfall is less than 1 centimeter in northeastern Gyeonggi Province, 5 to 20 centimeters in mountainous Gangwon, 1 to 5 centimeters in central and northern inland Gangwon, less than 1 centimeter on the northern east coast of Gangwon, and between 1 and 3 centimeters in the northeastern mountainous areas of North Gyeongsang.
Fine dust levels will remain 'good' in all regions.
