The gold bracelet worth around 100 million won, which drew attention after being found in the Sapaesan Tunnel in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province, has been returned to its owner.

According to the police on the 24th, on December 26 last year, a man found a gold bracelet made from 100 don (approximately 375g) of gold in the Sapaesan Tunnel in Uijeongbu and reported it to the police. Based on the current market price, the bracelet is worth about 100 million won.

To locate the owner, the police conducted a multifaceted investigation, checking loss reports and the possibility that the bracelet might be linked to a crime. During this process, a man referred to as Mr. A came forward claiming ownership and stated that he threw the bracelet out of the car window in anger while arguing with his spouse as he was driving. Mr. A is said to have filed loss reports with the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency and the local land management office immediately after the incident.

To verify the true owner, the police tracked a small inscription engraved on the bracelet. Through this, they identified the seller in Jongno, Seoul, and carried out detailed verification work by cross-checking the purchase history. As Mr. A’s statement, the contents of his loss reports, and the seller’s records all matched, the police finally returned the bracelet to him on the 19th.

Under the Lost Property Act, the person who reports the lost item is entitled to receive a reward ranging from 5% to 20% of the item’s value from the owner. In this regard, the police explained that negotiations over the reward between the person who first found the bracelet and the owner are a civil matter, and thus should be decided by mutual agreement between the two parties.
