This briefing was organized to support small business owners who are struggling due to the ongoing economic downturn and to revitalize local commercial districts.
The event was attended by small business owners and representatives from more than 20 merchant organizations, as well as officials from the Small Enterprise and Market Service, the Gyeonggi Agency for Traditional Market and Commerce, the Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation, and the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation (Nonghyup), who discussed ways to revitalize the local economy.
The city provided merchants with detailed explanations of its key support projects and public contest projects being promoted this year and outlined its policy direction. In addition, promotional booths were set up for each related organization, including the Small Enterprise and Market Service, to offer one-on-one customized consultations on public contest projects and support programs, which were very well received by participants.
Mayor Joo Gwangdeok, who attended the briefing, said, "I sincerely support all the small business owners who are standing on the very front line of the local economy, even in this very difficult situation of sluggish domestic demand, high prices, and high interest rates."
He continued, "I hope this briefing will provide practical help to all small business owners and serve as an opportunity for a fresh leap forward," adding, "We will continue to communicate and cooperate closely to revitalize the local economy."
Meanwhile, taking this event as a starting point, the city plans to fully launch customized support for small business owners and continue building a foundation for stabilizing livelihoods and fostering local economic growth. Going forward, it plans to hold the "Small Business Communication Roundtable" twice a month on a regular basis to continuously gather opinions from the field and to keep discovering commercial district revitalization policies that small business owners can tangibly feel, thereby accelerating the recovery and growth of local commercial districts.
