On the 24th, Gwangju and the Jeonnam region will see rain from the morning, with some mountainous areas, including the highlands of Jirisan, expected to see accumulating snow.
According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration on the 23rd, rain is forecast to fall across all of Gwangju and Jeonnam from the morning of the 24th through the morning of the 25th.
The expected rainfall over the two days is forecast to be between 5 and 30 mm. Centered on high-altitude mountainous areas near Jirisan, such as Seongsamjae and Piagol, rain is expected to turn to snow, with some places seeing snow accumulation of 1 to 3 cm.
The air is becoming increasingly dry. As of the afternoon of the 23rd, a dry advisory is in effect mainly for the eastern part of Jeonnam, including Gurye, Boseong, Yeosu, Gwangyang, and Suncheon, so caution is needed to prevent wildfires and other types of fires.
Attention is also needed to prevent safety accidents at sea and along the coast. The Korea Meteorological Administration issued preliminary strong wind advisories for Geomundo and Chodo on the morning of the 24th, and preliminary high seas advisories for the offshore waters of the southern part of the southern West Sea and the offshore waters of the western South Sea.
Temperatures will remain similar to or slightly above the seasonal averages until the morning of the 24th, then gradually become chillier from the afternoon. On the 24th, morning lows are expected to range from -1 to 4 degrees Celsius, and daytime highs from 5 to 9 degrees Celsius.
An official from the Korea Meteorological Administration said, "In areas where rain or snow is falling, visibility may be short and roads may be slippery, so please pay attention to traffic safety," adding, "As small sparks can grow into large fires due to the dry air and strong winds, please take thorough precautions to prevent fires."
