Landing at a global startup that attracted 6 billion won in investment... Practice-oriented competencies shone
Professor Kim Byoungsoo of the Robot IT Department: "A fruition of cultivating practice-ready talent tailored to on-site demand"
The Robot Campus of Korea Polytechnic University, located in Yeongcheon City and headed by Dean Choi Mooyoung, announced on the 23rd that Jeon Jaehyeok, a graduate of the Robot IT Department, has successfully taken his first step into society by recently securing a final job offer from CarbonSix, a robotics startup specializing in Physical AI-based technology.
According to Yeongcheon City, CarbonSix is an innovative company that develops Physical AI robot technology capable of making human-like decisions and performing precision tasks in manufacturing sites.

The company has drawn attention by attracting approximately 6 billion won (4 million dollars) in seed investment from investors including those in Silicon Valley in the United States, and is regarded as a promising global startup staffed with top-tier talent from leading research institutions such as MIT, Seoul National University, and KAIST.
This successful employment outcome was made possible by the close industry-academia cooperation between the Robot Campus and CarbonSix.
Since last year, the two sides have maintained steady communication, including holding job information sessions, in order to cultivate specialized personnel for on-site automation.
During his studies, Jeon Jaehyeok, who succeeded in securing this job, consistently built practical, work-ready competencies by directly implementing AI-based automation models through the advanced major course "Capstone Design" project.
He mapped out his career path by focusing on Physical AI technology, a core of future industries, and his strong problem-solving skills grounded in his major translated into outstanding competitiveness during the hiring process.
Jeon said, "I believed that Physical AI is a core technology that can overcome the limitations of the manufacturing industry in the future," adding, "I was highly motivated by the opportunity to directly participate in developing world-class technology in a rapidly growing environment."
He went on to advise his juniors, saying, "The basic theories and major practicums you learn at school become a far more important source of competitiveness than you might think," and, "Rather than chasing short-term employment credentials, deeply understanding your major and having the experience of completing your own projects provided significant strength in actual interviews and on-the-job work."
He added, "Going forward, I want to grow as a developer at CarbonSix who creates innovative changes in real manufacturing sites through Physical AI technology."
Professor Kim Byoungsoo of the Robot IT Department, who supervised Jeon, stated, "This case of Jeon Jaehyeok is a representative employment success story where the university’s solid major education and the student’s self-directed learning aligned precisely with the latest technology demands of the industry," and added, "We will continue to expand the training and supply of specialized automation personnel for manufacturing sites, which are essential in the era of Physical AI, through rigorous practice-oriented talent development."
Meanwhile, the Robot Campus of Korea Polytechnic University is conducting an additional recruitment of freshmen for the 2026 academic year until Thursday, March 12. Many applications are expected from prospective students interested in practice-oriented, robot-centered curricula.
