Gyeongju Municipal Theatre Company to Stage 134th Regular Performance "White Cherry"

To Be Held at Wonhwa Hall, Gyeongju Arts Center, April 2-4... All Seats 5,000 Won

Production Process to Be Vividly Revealed Through "Open Rehearsal" on March 19

The Gyeongju Municipal Theatre Company (Artistic Director Kang Seongwoo) is staging the play "White Cherry," which has been praised for its depth of artistry and solid narrative, as its 134th regular performance, offering citizens the opportunity to enjoy high-quality performing arts.


The performance will run for three days from April 2 to April 4 at the Wonhwa Hall of the Gyeongju Arts Center.

This production is one of the representative works of playwright Bae Samsik, who has delicately illuminated the essence of the times and of human beings. It was recognized for its artistry and completeness by winning the Grand Prize at the 2009 Korea Theatre Awards, being selected as one of the "Best 7" by the Korean Theatre Association, and receiving the Dong-A Theatre Award for Best Play.


With its meticulous structure and tense narrative between characters, this play will be reborn with a new sense of emotion through the unique interpretation and direction of the Gyeongju Municipal Theatre Company.


Prior to the main performance, the Gyeongju Municipal Theatre Company has prepared an "open rehearsal" program to expand communication with the audience.


During the open rehearsal, which will take place at 10:30 a.m. on March 19, the rehearsal process will be opened to the public, providing an opportunity to directly experience the vivid scene of performance production.


Joo Nakyoung, Mayor of Gyeongju, said, "We will actively support the municipal theatre company so that it can continue to present performances that enhance citizens' cultural pride and elevate the dignity of local arts to a higher level."


Founded in February 1987, the Gyeongju Municipal Theatre Company has expanded citizens' opportunities to enjoy culture and contributed to the development of local performing arts by presenting works in a wide range of genres, including traditional outdoor plays, musical dramas, translated plays, children's plays, experimental theatre, and musicals, beginning with its inaugural production, "Why Do You Make Me...".
