Wonju Medical High School Renamed "Korea Medical Meister High School"... Accelerating Global Talent Development Wonju Medical High School (Principal Kim Jinrak) held a plaque unveiling ceremony at the school's main gate on the 23rd for changing its name to Korea Medical Meister High School. Provided by the Gangwon Provincial Office of Education.

The event was attended by the Superintendent of the Wonju Office of Education, the Director of the Education Bureau and the Director of Secondary Education at the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Provincial Office of Education, a National Assembly member from Wonju, principals of middle and high schools in Wonju, and principals of vocational high schools in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province.

Wonju Medical High School began as a Meister high school specializing in medical devices and biotechnology and has been sending graduates to excellent workplaces for 14 years. In 2025, its graduates were hired by Samsung Biologics (8 students, including 3 students graduating in 2024), the civil service (7 students, including 2 students graduating in 2024), public corporations (1 student), and small but strong medical device and bio companies, thereby producing outstanding talent.

The school has operated a variety of customized programs so that students can independently strengthen their competencies in the employment fields they aspire to. It created the learning environment students wanted by providing after-school classes for students preparing for the civil service examination through a mentoring program in which graduates participate to share their know-how for success, and through the "Seugonghak" program supported by the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Provincial Office of Education.

The school also ran support programs for students preparing for employment at public corporations. In addition, it continuously provided guidance and support to graduates who wished to make a renewed attempt at employment after graduation.

Principal Kim Jinrak said, "We decided to change the name of the school to strengthen our identity and expertise as a Meister high school, to enhance our nationwide competitiveness, and to overcome the limitations of our region," adding, "Starting with the 2026 freshman class, under the new name of Korea Medical Meister High School, we will be reborn as a cradle for nurturing talent in the global medical device and bio fields."
