Enhancing Execution Management and Accelerating Progress
Through Intensive Oversight of Large-Scale Investment Projects
The Urban Public Development Bureau of Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province will begin in earnest to swiftly execute public facility projects in the first half of 2026 in order to revitalize the local economy and support the recovery of people's livelihoods.
The Urban Public Development Bureau is promoting a total of 98 projects, including public building projects and urban development projects, with public facility projects amounting to approximately 3.6833 trillion won. Among these, 89 projects for which this year’s budget has been secured have been selected for fast-track execution.
The amount slated for execution in the first half of the year is 120.4 billion won, of which the city plans to execute 78.6 billion won (65.3%) as its target. By spending 31.2 billion won in the first quarter and 47.4 billion won in the second quarter, the city intends to spread the fiscal impact at an early stage.
To this end, the city plans to shorten administrative procedures at each stage of design, bidding, and construction, and to minimize factors that could delay execution by actively utilizing relevant guidelines, such as expanding advance payments and making monthly progress payments.
In particular, the city will focus on managing 21 large-scale investment projects worth 1 billion won or more so that the effects of fiscal execution can quickly spread throughout the local economy.
Major projects include the construction of an integrated office building for the Agricultural Technology Center, the Sapha District urban development project, the expansion of the Changwon National Industrial Complex, the construction of the No. 3 charnel house at Changwon Municipal Sangbok Park, and the construction of the Changwon Municipal Art Museum and Naeseo Library.
Shin Seonggi, Director of the Urban Public Development Bureau, said, "We will ensure that preemptive fiscal execution provides tangible support to the local construction sector and the everyday economy," adding, "We will strengthen schedule management and monitoring of progress for each project so that we can achieve the planned targets without setbacks."
