Gijang County in Busan Offers Support for "Creating Parking Lots in Residential Yards"...Subsidies Up to 4 Million Won

Up to 70% of Construction Costs Covered for Fence Removal or Gate Remodeling... Applications Accepted Until October 30

On February 23, Gijang County (County Mayor Jung Jongbok) announced that it will promote the "2026 Support Program for Creating Parking Lots in Residential Yards" to resolve parking shortages in residential alleys and to create a safe pedestrian environment.

Under this program, if a homeowner secures parking space by removing or remodeling the front gate or fence, the county will provide a subsidy covering up to 70% of the construction cost, capped at 4 million won. The program is intended to alleviate chronic parking shortages in densely populated residential areas and to improve pedestrian safety in alleyways.

The application period runs from February 23 to October 30, 2026. Homeowners who wish to participate can apply in person at the county's Traffic Administration Division or by mail. Once selected, the applicant carries out the construction work at their own initiative and then applies for the subsidy with the required supporting documents.

However, subsidies cannot be provided if there are arrears in local taxes or in non-tax revenues. In addition, the parking lot use must be maintained for two years after receiving the subsidy, and if this requirement is violated, the entire subsidy will be reclaimed.

County Mayor Jung Jongbok said, "I hope this program will help ease parking difficulties in densely populated residential areas by reducing residents' construction cost burden and enabling them to secure parking spaces in a short period of time."

The program may end early if the budget is exhausted. For more details, please contact the Traffic Administration Division of Gijang County.
