Reporter Heo Kyungjun Receives Korean Bar Association "Excellence in Journalism Award"

"In-depth coverage of the Court Organization Act amendment bill"

Heo Kyungjun, a reporter for The Asia Business Daily, has received the Korean Bar Association's Excellence in Journalism Award.

The Korean Bar Association awarded the Excellence in Journalism Award to seven people, including reporter Heo, at the association's 2026 Annual General Meeting held on the 23rd at the JW Marriott Hotel in Banpo-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul.

The association stated that reporter Heo "conducted in-depth reporting on the amendment to the Court Organization Act to reflect judicial performance evaluations in personnel assessments, and provided balanced coverage of the positions of the legislative branch, the judiciary, and the Korean Bar Association."

It added, "In connection with the Coupang personal information leakage incident, he proposed the need to introduce a class action system, thereby working to protect the rights and interests of the public. Even amid sensational false reports, he thoroughly verified the facts and reported the truth, contributing to the enhancement of the public's right to know."

Besides reporter Heo, the Korean Bar Association's Excellence in Journalism Award was also given to Kang Minwoo of Maeil Business Newspaper, Kim Junyoung of JoongAng Ilbo, Baek Jua of Edaily, Choi Eunsol of Financial News, Han Songwon of TV Chosun, and Lee Soheon of Newsis.

Since 2015, the Korean Bar Association has been presenting the Excellence in Journalism Award twice a year to outstanding journalists who faithfully uphold the journalistic mission of truthful and principled reporting and contribute to the development of the rule of law through fair coverage.

The association said, "Going forward, by presenting the Excellence in Journalism Award to journalists who swiftly and fairly report news about the legal community based on objective facts, we will contribute to the advancement of a sound social culture."
