Additional Tourist Discounts in Sokcho and Donghae in March
Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province is launching the "Get Benefits! Travel Gangwon" event for visitors to Gangwon Province in the second year of the "2025-2026 Visit Gangwon Years" campaign.
This event will run on the "Gangwon Hyetaekiji" website starting on the 23rd, and any visitor who has been issued a Gangwon Resident-for-a-Day Card (Gangwon Saenghwal Domicile Card) can participate.
Participation in the event is limited to once per person for accommodation receipt verification and once per person for spending receipt verification.
For accommodation receipt verification, if a visitor uses an accommodation facility located within the province and uploads a receipt of 60,000 won or more to the "Gangwon Hyetaekiji" website, they will receive a 30,000-won mobile Gangwon Gift Certificate. For spending receipt verification, if a visitor uploads to the "Gangwon Hyetaekiji" website receipts totaling at least 50,000 won from restaurants, beverage shops, or tourist attraction admission fees within the province, they will receive a 10,000-won mobile Gangwon Gift Certificate.
However, receipts for spending at general or dance entertainment bars and other establishments related to gambling or entertainment purposes will not be accepted.
Meanwhile, following Wonju and Cheorwon, which were recommended travel destinations for February, the province has selected Sokcho and Donghae as the "recommended travel destinations of the month" for March and will offer various benefits there.
In Sokcho, where beautiful Seoraksan Mountain, Ulsanbawi Rock, wide sandy beaches, and the blue sea welcome visitors, admission fees for cultural assets at Sinheungsa Temple within Seoraksan National Park will be waived. In Donghae, which is full of stories of nature such as the blue sea and the scenic Mureung Valley, as well as warm fishing villages like Mukho Port and Nongoldam-gil, visitors will receive a 50% discount on the Donghae City Tour Bus, a 50% discount on the admission fee to Mureung Byeolyucheonji, and a 30% discount on experiences there.
Son Changhwan, Head of the Global Headquarters at the Second Government Office of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, said, "Through the 'Get Benefits! Travel Gangwon' event, we expect to achieve three effects at the same time: attracting visitors, expanding local consumption, and encouraging repeat visits," adding, "This year as well, we are preparing a variety of tourism promotion events such as popup stores in the Seoul metropolitan area, spending verification campaigns in cooperation with credit card companies, and stamp tours, so we ask for your keen interest."
