20th Anniversary of Swedish Test Site Operations
Integrated Demonstration of Core Components for Braking and Steering
Hyundai Mobis announced on March 3 that it is holding a new technology demonstration event by inviting global clients to its winter test site in Sweden. The event, which runs for about ten days starting from last weekend, is expected to welcome approximately 100 representatives from more than 10 client companies in Europe and North America in succession.
Hyundai Mobis is equipping demo vehicles with new products that are currently under discussion for orders or are scheduled for supply, conducting test drives, and gathering client needs through evaluations. Since each client company has different preferences and requirements, the company is expected to accelerate the development and supply of key components tailored to each client.
The winter test site, which began operations in 2006 in Arjeplog, northern Sweden, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Located at latitude 63 degrees north, it is renowned for its vast snowfields and icy terrain where winter temperatures can drop to minus 40 degrees Celsius.
At the winter test site, the durability and quality of products that must withstand severe cold and harsh road conditions are thoroughly inspected. Major products designed and manufactured by Hyundai Mobis, including core components such as brakes, steering, suspension, as well as key sensors for electrification and autonomous driving, are verified here. Between January and March of this year, more than 60 projects underwent verification at this site. During this period, over 80 vehicles were transported to Sweden and used to confirm whether components designed to withstand various extreme conditions-such as snowy and icy roads-met evaluation standards.
Researchers inspect vehicle conditions and set up equipment on the snowfields every morning, even in severe cold. Through repeated test drives, even in weather with mixed snow and strong winds, they verify subtle control characteristics and detect unexpected road surface changes to reflect them in data. Sometimes, outdoor tests continue for more than 10 hours a day.

Hyundai Mobis also operates a winter test site in Heihe, Heilongjiang Province, northern China, to verify key components for local Chinese models. During the summer, the company utilizes its testing facilities in New Zealand to continuously perform verification and reliability assessments of mass-production and advanced development components under simulated winter conditions throughout the year.
While operating its winter test site, Hyundai Mobis invites various global client companies from North America, Europe, and other regions, providing them with opportunities to directly experience Hyundai Mobis's technologies. The company aims to enhance its technological competitiveness by jointly evaluating products with its clients.
Hyundai Mobis stated, "Last year, we achieved 9.1 billion dollars (about 13 trillion won) in key component orders from global automakers, exceeding our target order amount of 7.4 billion dollars by about 23%," adding, "This year, we are ramping up our order activities to surpass last year's performance, based on an advanced product portfolio that includes battery systems and next-generation electronic components."
