Hallym University Institute for Knowledge and Media Convergence
Global Roundtable with UC Berkeley Librarian Jang Jaeyong
Held at C.Square on the 4th Floor of the Hallym University Ilsong Memorial Library
Officials from the Hallym University (President Choi Yanghee) Institute for Knowledge and Media Convergence will share cases of "university library services" with the C.V. Starr East Asian Library at the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) in Berkeley, California.
At 3:30 p.m. on the 27th, at C.Square on the 4th floor of the Ilsong Memorial Library at Hallym University, the Institute for Knowledge and Media Convergence (Director Joo Youngki) will host a session titled "Introduction to the Functions of the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) Library and Global Knowledge-Sharing Roundtable," inviting Librarian Jang Jaeyong, who is in charge of Korean studies materials at the UC Berkeley C.V. Starr East Asian Library.
The roundtable stems from the recognition that, in a reality where the knowledge ecosystem in academia is rapidly changing due to AI technology, libraries can no longer be satisfied with the role of a space that merely shares the content of printed books.
Accordingly, Librarian Jang Jaeyong will introduce the various services offered by university libraries in the United States, including UC Berkeley, with a particular focus on library services that utilize AI. In addition, staff members from the two university libraries will engage in practical dialogue and discussion on the role university libraries should play, not only for students but also as hubs of "community building" for the local community.
