100,000 Won for Elementary, 200,000 Won for Middle and High School
Paid in "Wando Love Gift Certificates"
Wando County in South Jeolla Province will once again provide entrance congratulatory grants this year to first-year students at elementary, middle, and high schools in the county, in order to realize universal educational welfare and ease the burden of educational expenses on parents.
According to Wando County on February 23, eligible recipients are students entering elementary, middle, or high school who are registered residents of Wando County as of their school entrance date. The grant amount is 100,000 won for elementary school students and 200,000 won for middle and high school students, and the full amount will be paid in the local currency, the "Wando Love Gift Certificate," to promote local spending.
The application period runs from March 3 to 13. After the new semester begins, applications can be submitted by following the procedures announced by each school, and the county plans to verify eligibility, including place of residence, and then distribute the congratulatory grants in stages starting in April.
Beginning with 918 recipients in 2023, followed by 766 in 2024 and 769 last year, the county has continuously supported new students with entrance congratulatory grants, steadily encouraging local students as they embark on a new chapter.
County Governor Shin Woo-cheol said, "I hope this entrance congratulatory grant will be of at least some help to our students as they prepare for their new school life," adding, "We will continue to do our best to make Wando a city of education where children can freely pursue their dreams."
