The Biggest Victim of Political Prosecution... A Record of Fabricated Investigations

Kim Yong's "The Usefulness of the President" Gwangju?South Jeolla Book Launch Concludes Successfully With hundreds of local political figures in attendance, the Gwangju book launch for the co-authored work by Kim Yong and Lee Jeonghwan, "The Time of Lee Jaemyung Recorded by Kim Yong: The Usefulness of the President," took place on the 22nd at 2 p.m. at the Kim Daejung Convention Center. Provided by the event organizers.

The Gwangju book launch for the co-authored work by Kim Yong and Lee Jeonghwan, "The Time of Lee Jaemyung Recorded by Kim Yong: The Usefulness of the President," was held at 2 p.m. on the 22nd at the Kim Daejung Convention Center in Gwangju.

More than 5,000 supporters, along with citizens of Gwangju and South Jeolla Province, attended the book launch, demonstrating intense interest.

In addition, hundreds of political figures attended to celebrate the event. Among them were South Jeolla Province Governor Kim Young-rok, Gwangju Metropolitan City Mayor Kang Gijung, National Assembly members Kim Moonsoo, Shin Jeonghun, Ahn Dogeol, Lee Gaeho, Jeong Jinwook, Jeong Jinsook, and Jo Gyeweon, Buk-gu District Mayor Moon In, Dong-gu District Mayor Lim Taek, Nam-gu District Mayor Kim Byeongnae, and Gwangju City Council Chairperson Shin Sujeong. The event was hosted by Ahn Dogeol, head of the Minsheng Research Institute.

The new book "The Usefulness of the President" was co-authored by former Gyeonggi Province spokesperson Kim Yong, who closely shared President Lee Jaemyung's political philosophy, and OhmyNews journalist Lee Jeonghwan. It aligns with the Lee Jaemyung administration's governing philosophy of "a country where the people are the owners," exploring how the office of the president should not reign over the people but instead be used for the people.

"The Usefulness of the President" is a record that questions the real meaning and duties of political power.

It sheds light, through concrete examples, on the direction and responsibility of power, including decisions made to overcome national crises, a people-centered policy philosophy, and the sense of efficacy in politics. Rather than being a simple political memoir, it poses a fundamental question: "For whom does power exist?"

The book also contains testimony about the author's personal hardships and the darker side of South Korea's politics and judiciary, describing how his life collapsed over 550 days under investigations and trials, with three arrests and three releases on bail, due to what he calls a political prosecution's hunt for a political rival.

Author Kim Yong stated, "I believe the presidency is not the pinnacle of power, but the starting point of responsibility. The power to materially change people's lives... that is precisely the usefulness of the president. This book is a record not only of one individual, but of what kind of country we are going to build."

Meanwhile, the nationwide tour for "The Usefulness of the President" is scheduled to continue sequentially, starting in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, and then moving on to Gwangju, North Jeolla Province, Busan, Daejeon, and other regions.
