ASML Korea, the Korean subsidiary of the world’s largest lithography equipment company ASML, announced on the 23rd that it has opened the ‘Global Training Center Korea’ at its Hwaseong campus, which was launched last year.

The ASML Global Training Center Korea occupies a total area of 3,100 square meters in Building B of the Hwaseong campus. It consolidates into a single site the two training centers that had previously been operated separately at the ASML Hwaseong office and in Yongin.

The center is equipped with deep ultraviolet (DUV) and extreme ultraviolet (EUV) systems and modules, as well as a cleanroom. It is expected to serve as a key hub for training professional customer service (CS) engineers and advancing technology in Korea’s semiconductor industry.

The company explained that, beyond merely providing educational infrastructure, it has built a platform that can offer continuous and systematic training on advanced lithography equipment in Korea, at a time when semiconductor process sophistication is increasing the complexity of equipment and operations.

The center houses around 20 classrooms. Twenty-five full-time instructors are stationed there, providing more than 130 training programs, including advanced courses on state-of-the-art EUV systems. Kim Namyun, Manager of the Global Training Center Korea at ASML Korea, said, “If you combine trainees from ASML and from customer companies, approximately 4,000 people a year will receive training at the Global Training Center Korea.”

Training on ‘High Numerical Aperture (High-NA) EUV’ systems, regarded as core next-generation semiconductor manufacturing equipment, has also been added to the curriculum, and the company plans to provide customer companies with advanced semiconductor lectures and hands-on training.

Choi Hanjong, CEO of ASML Korea, said, “Semiconductor competitiveness is strengthened not only by the efforts of individual companies, but when the technological and talent capabilities of the entire ecosystem rise together,” adding, “Using the Global Training Center Korea as a hub, we will expand our education and practice infrastructure to support the technological advancement of our customers, and we will continue to invest in nurturing professionals who have received sufficient education and training.”

Since launching the ‘Hands On Academy’ in 2010, ASML has been committed to engineer training and professional development in semiconductor equipment, including the Dongtan basic training center in 2018 and the Yongin Global Training Center in 2023.
