CU Launches Ultra-Low-Price Pork Belly Day Meat Promotion...“Two Servings for Around 6,000 Won”

CU, the convenience store chain operated by BGF Retail, announced on the 23rd that it will offer refrigerated and frozen meat products at ultra-low prices from the 26th until March 3 to mark Pork Belly Day (March 3).

The promotion covers a total of five products. Spanish frozen thin-sliced pork belly (800g) will be sold for 10,900 won, while 500g portions of Canadian barley-fed pork belly and pork shoulder butt will be available for 9,900 won. Pork belly and pork shoulder butt made from Korean pork (Han-don) in 300g packs targeting single-person households will be sold for 6,600 won.

The prices of these products, at 1,980 to 2,200 won per 100g, are more than 50% cheaper than the lowest listed price for pork belly (4,500 won per 100g as of January 30) in the “Chamgagyeok” daily necessities price information provided by the Korea Consumer Agency.

Customers who purchase these promotional products will receive an additional 170g pack of CJ Four Seasons Ssamjang, worth 2,500 won, free of charge. In addition, if customers present a QR code from the Pocket CU membership in the CU commerce application (app) and pay with Kakao Pay Money, they will receive an extra 33% discount.

Since 2023, CU has been designating March 3 each year as Pork Belly Day instead of Triangle Kimbap Day, and has seen promotional sales grow. In the first year, refrigerated meat sales increased 8.3 times (737.2%) year-on-year, and recorded growth rates of 49.8% in 2024 and 64.5% in 2025.
