Sanho-dong in Masanhappo-gu Holds Jisinbalgi Ceremony for Jeongwol Daeboreum in the Year of the Red Horse Scenes from the Jisinbalgi event in Sanho-dong.

The event, held from February 20 to 21, was led by the Sanho-dong Festival Committee and the pungmul troupe, with about 80 residents and members of local volunteer organizations taking part. In addition, 72 businesses and institutions within the jurisdiction joined the event, adding to the spirit of unity and mutual growth within the local community.

Jisinbalgi is a traditional seasonal custom unique to Korea, in which people appease Jisin, the earth god who protects the home site, ward off misfortune, and pray for peace and abundance throughout the year. During the event, the pungmul troupe toured shops and institutions throughout Sanho-dong, performing Jisin-gut to the lively sounds of kkwaenggwari, janggu, and buk, while residents exchanged words of blessing and shared their wishes for the New Year.

This year in particular, with expanded resident participation and stronger cooperation among institutions, it became a meaningful occasion to use traditional culture as a medium to promote communication between generations and strengthen community bonds. Residents who took part in the event agreed that "it was a meaningful gathering where the whole village came together to welcome the New Year."

Sanho-dong Chief Kim Neumi said, "The Jeongwol Daeboreum Jisinbalgi is a precious cultural heritage that connects generations and an event that unites the local community as one," adding, "As we greet the Byeongo Year, I hope that every household in our community will be filled with health and happiness."
