KNS Signs MOU with Haesung Optics...Enters Camera Vision Sensor Market

KNS, a specialist in unmanned advanced-industry systems, announced on the 9th that it has signed a business agreement (MOU) for a "strategic partnership to build an artificial intelligence (AI)-based advanced autonomous production system" with Haesung Optics, a company specializing in camera modules and optical technologies.

KNS Signs MOU with Haesung Optics...Enters Camera Vision Sensor Market

The core objective of this agreement is to establish an innovative optical image stabilization (OIS) automation line using AI technology at the production facilities of Haesung Vina, the Vietnamese subsidiary of Haesung Optics. KNS is scheduled to carry out the entire process for building the AI-based OIS automation line in a turn-key manner, from equipment design and manufacturing to installation and commissioning.

The two companies have set a concrete execution roadmap, under which the first order will be placed in April, followed by a second project phase in June, and final commissioning and completion of the build-out in August. KNS also plans to station professional engineers on-site even after the facilities are completed, providing close support and minimizing process-stabilization risks.

KNS possesses unrivaled "ultra-precision alignment technology" and "high-speed multi-axis precision drive design" capabilities. Through its "AI-based CAM drive technology," which precisely controls complex motions, the company can secure both productivity and accuracy in assembly processes for ultra-small components such as sensors.

The two companies plan to pursue a "joint development project" in parallel, with the goal of advancing process technologies for mass production of next-generation models, rather than limiting the collaboration to simple equipment supply. In particular, they intend to gradually expand the scope of cooperation beyond the mobile sector to include actuators for robots, camera-based autonomous-driving sensors, and automotive electronic components. Camera-based vision sensors, along with LiDAR and RADAR, are regarded as three core sensor technologies for the autonomous driving and robotics industries.

A KNS representative said, "Haesung Optics is a key partner that supplies camera modules and automotive electronic components to major global and domestic conglomerates, and it entered into discussions with us to respond to growing demand in downstream markets and to enhance production efficiency," adding, "By successfully completing this project, we will continue to strengthen and expand our business competitiveness and influence in the field of sensor automation equipment."
