Army Chief of Staff Kim Gyuha held a video conference with Ronald P. Clark, Commander of U.S. Army Pacific, at Gyeryongdae on the 6th to discuss current issues including the security situation on the Korean Peninsula, the promotion of military innovation by the ROK-U.S. Armies, and multilateral security cooperation in the region.

General Kim expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the U.S. Army Pacific Command in strengthening the ROK-U.S. combined defense posture, and exchanged views on areas of military innovation pursued by both sides through the application of advanced science and technology. The two sides also agreed to continue expanding exchanges and cooperation in related fields.
According to the Army, Commander Clark highly praised the Republic of Korea Army's firm readiness posture and military capabilities, stating, "As a core pillar of the ROK-U.S. alliance, we will continue to cooperate in the areas of combined training and military innovation."
The two sides agreed to use the upcoming Indo-Pacific Landpower Symposium (LANPAC), scheduled for May, as an opportunity to strengthen security cooperation with friendly nations in the region. LANPAC is a regular high-level multilateral Army conference in the Indo-Pacific region, hosted by the Association of the United States Army and sponsored by the U.S. Army Pacific Command.
The Army stated, "The ROK and U.S. Armies have closely cooperated to maintain the combined defense posture in preparation for various security issues on the Korean Peninsula," adding, "Going forward, in connection with the development of the ROK-U.S. alliance, we plan to further strengthen high-level communication and mutual cooperation at the Army level to build a strong military powered by science and technology."
