The Yeongcheon City Council (Chairman Kim Seontae) concluded its 12-day session schedule with the closing of the 3rd plenary session of the 250th extraordinary session held on February 6.
At the plenary session that day, the council gave final approval to Yeongcheon City's first supplementary budget bill for 2026.
This first supplementary budget bill was drawn up at a total scale of approximately 1 trillion 98.7 billion won, including 1 trillion 59.1 billion won for the general and other special accounts (an increase of 12.553 billion won compared to the previously approved amount) and 39.6 billion won for the waterworks project special account (a decrease of 480 million won compared to the previously approved amount). All items were approved as originally submitted by the executive branch.
Lee Gapgyun, Chair of the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts, stated, "We thoroughly reviewed whether the financial resources were efficiently allocated in line with the purpose of the supplementary budget to local pending projects and other areas where they are most needed, and we examined the efficiency, urgency, and validity of each project in full."
Chairman Kim Seontae requested, "Please focus the administrative capacity so that the finalized budget can be swiftly executed where it is most needed and become a tangible support in citizens' lives."
