Supporting Spouses of War Veterans Facing Financial Hardship
The Busan Regional Office of Veterans Affairs of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (headed by Lee Namil) held a "Lunar New Year Love-Sharing Donation Ceremony for Veterans' Families" with Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co., Ltd.'s Busan Plant on the 3rd floor of the Baek Jaeduk Room at its office building on February 4.
The ceremony was prepared to express gratitude to national merit awardees and veterans' families who sacrificed and dedicated themselves to the nation for the Lunar New Year holiday. Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co., Ltd.'s Busan Plant donated a designated contribution of 5 million won through the Community Chest of Korea, and this donation will be delivered to the spouses of war veterans among local home-care welfare recipients who are experiencing financial difficulties.
Since 2014, Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co., Ltd.'s Busan Plant has continuously contributed to improving veterans' welfare in the local community by providing donations and sponsorship goods worth approximately 80 million won. In recognition of these contributions, it received a plaque of appreciation from the head of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs in 2022 for its services in promoting welfare.
Lee Namil, head of the Busan Regional Office of Veterans Affairs, said, "It is very important to help ensure that the spouses of war veterans who devoted themselves to the nation do not face hardships in their daily lives," adding, "This donation from Samsung Electro-Mechanics will serve as a meaningful opportunity to more closely support on the ground the new livelihood support system being promoted by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs."
The Busan Regional Office of Veterans Affairs plans to continue strengthening cooperation with companies and the local community to provide customized welfare support that veterans' families can tangibly feel and to promote the culture of honoring veterans.
