Ministry Of Science And ICT Invites Project Proposals For Safety Services Using AI And Digital Twin Technologies

The Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency (NIA) announced on the 3rd that they are launching a call for project proposals to introduce safety services using AI and digital twin technologies.

This project was initiated with the aim of improving the efficiency and accuracy of public safety management through AI and digital twin technologies. By combining AI-based data analysis and prediction with the simulation capabilities of digital twins, the project seeks to discover public services that can predict and prevent risks in advance.

Such initiatives are being pursued not only in Korea but also around the world. Nvidia has introduced a service that precisely predicts typhoon paths and flood damage by combining its climate digital twin platform “Earth-2” with the generative AI model “CorrDiff.” Google is providing risk prediction services by utilizing global weather data through its AI weather forecasting model “Graph Cast” and its flood forecasting platform “Flood Hub,” among others.

The Ministry of Science and ICT plans to select six projects in three areas: disease safety, everyday safety, and industrial safety, including “prediction of infectious disease transmission routes” and “prediction of hazardous road sections and simulation of road traffic accidents by factor.” In addition, it has decided to provide approximately 900 million won per project to each selected consortium.
